Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

I plan to do a video of my iPad Air crashing non-stop and post it on my YouTube channel. I will show this video to the "Geniuses" in the Apple store since they don't believe me.  I plan to get a MacBook Air instead.  To cover my "pocket" I'll call the Apple Care support and let them know what I plan to do.  I do want my money back. I still love Apple and I do hope that they'll find a fix for this.

You could always tether to your phone, or doesn't your carrier allow that?

They do sell a Kindle HDX with 4G LTE with 10 bands, so I would think you should. Get coverage.

Hi guys, Apple began censoring this discussion!!!

I was blocked my post about the iPad air crash problem with a mail saying:

    "Dear .....(Fabio_from_Italy),

Apple removed your post titled, "Re: Ipad air low memory crash," because it contained off-topic or non-technical posts."

    Very kind of you, really...

Try to solve the problem instead

Yes I was sensored too socialism is great. Don't mention the word "J Break". Yes I should know better but coming from Android I'm not used to being taken hostage by the os I want to install on the device I paid for.

The fact that apple can't acknowledge this issue goes to show how they treat us like sheep. No one dares to mention these issues in reviews without consequences. If blackberry had half of the bugs apple did they wouldn't get away with it.  Ios7 is an entirely new beast so I will give them some time to fix it. It's disconcerting however to see Safari still crashing in the early reviews I have seen of ios7.1 beta on you tube.

Fabio, can you (attempt to) post the email and the post that got censored?

I wonder if Tim Cook is really aware of all of this?

Its now confirmed and reported by many techs that the current Ipad Air has a design flaw from lack of RAM.
The move to a 64-bit platform however does complicate things a bit. Moving to a larger memory address space increases the size of pointers, which in turn can increase the footprint of 64-bit applications compared to their 32-bit counterparts.
In general you’re looking at a 20 - 30% increase in memory footprint when dealing with an all 64-bit environment. At worst, the device’s total memory usage never exceeded 60% of what ships with the platform but these are admittedly fairly light use cases. With more apps open, including some doing work in the background, I do see relatively aggressive eviction of apps from memory.
Although things seem to have improved with iOS 7.0.3, the 64-bit builds of the OS still seem to run into stability issues more frequently than their 32-bit counterparts. I still see low memory errors associated with any crashes. It could just be that the move to 64-bit applications (and associated memory pressure) is putting more stress on iOS’ memory management routines, which in turn exposes some weaknesses.
    and other tech sites.
The Air’s 64-bit programs take up 30% more RAM than 32-bit programs, the iPad 3 and 4 have, in effect, 40% more RAM than the iPad Air.
I had to return my Air because it was crashing left and right, and after a lot of research turns out the Air is short on RAM to run correctly.
The  crazy fact that the Air has the same RAM as the Ipad 3 and 4, as I  found out, is absurd, its running 64bit, IOS7, and 64bit IOS apps.

My posts are mysteriously disappearing. I don't know if it is AI, or someone reading this thread.

I don't want to leave Apple. I want an acknowledgment from Apple that there is a problem and that they are working to fix it. And of course that they do actually FIX it.

It's funny how it's noted that these bulletin boards are not reviewed by apple support staff to proactively fix and find problems however They have the resources to censor us.
