Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

I followed your procedure. Did it twice with two different HD movies and two different TV shows. No crashes.

    Note

I did not have a iTunes App on my Air. I could not find one to download in the App Store, so I went to the iTunes website within the App Store and followed your procedure. No crashes.

Then you didnt follow the procedure if you didnt replicate the process outlined.

How much is Apple paying you?

Show me the iTunes App for iPad download instead of insulting me and others.

The iTunes app on my ipad Air crahes when I try viewing movie trailers on it.

I replaced my first iPad Air for this same reason, and the 2nd device does the same thing.

I called AppleCare and we tried retoring the ipad twice, but it did not help.  The 2nd restore was this evening, and we set it up as a new device (only with the native Apple apps, no 3rd party apps on it), but still the problem persists.  The senior advisor was baffled!  He said it may be an ios problem or hardware issue.

Tonight he emailed a Capture Data app for my Mac, we ran it with my iPad connected to the Mac... it captured the error logs etc.  I emailed the data capture files to him.  He is sending the info to Engineers, and I should hear back Monday evening.  He was very good to deal with (the first senior advisor never followed up with me).  I told him, if this can't be fixed within the next week, I want a full refund. I don't want the ipad air if this issue can't be resolved.

    Stay tuned!

Just back from the "Genius" Bar where they did a complete erase and re-install. The guy, at first, gave the impression that this was a new problem to him but later inferred (without really saying anything definite) that it was a problem with OS7 and Safari. When I told him of all the posts on this site re the same problem he said said that people needed to come into the store and register the problem and inferred that Apple took more notice of in-store feedback that forum posts. During general conversation with him and another "Genius" the impression I got was that is was a known problem and Apple were working on a fix.

Its amazing how they can say very little but hint alot

Anyways, I was sent away with a new install and told to monitor and get back if the problem occurred again.

Really? So not only are you the only one with an iPad Air that doesnt crash, your also the only one that didnt get an ipad with itunes preinstalled?

That is correct and I don't know if I'm the only one who did not get a pre-installed iTunes App.

Show me the App & where I can download it and I will run the test again. BTW, not the only one without a crash on this thread. Read the entire thread if you haven't done so.

Typo in my last post. Tell you what. Show me the App and I will run the test again.

"your the only one that didnt get an iPad with itunes  preinstalled?"

How do you know that? Your making an assumption. My iPhone 4S had the iTunes App pre-installed, but not my IPad 3 or the Air.

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but there is a bug in iTunes, where it crashes in landscape mode, there's a separate discussion for that somewhere else, but, could be what's effecting some users here too. We have two ipad airs in our house, and both are fine apart from the iTunes crash issue (which apparently is on most, if not all Airs). Apples is aware of the issue, and looking for a fix.

Then I guess Apples own website is inaccurate. Funny, iTunes was preinstalled on my iPad.

It is an app called iTunes Store - a purple icon with a music note inside - and it's physically built into the OS and can not be removed.

I received this email from a support engineer yesterday:

    QUOTE:

I suspect the issue is not related to iTunes, but to your iPad Air itself. You deserve to speak with an officially trained technical-support expert at this time. Please contact our technical-support team if these Knowledge Base articles, which I have provided to you as a courtesy, do not resolve this issue.

Wow - now that's a worry... Was I not already speaking with a technical support team member when I contacted your support service then apple?
