Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

    I hope!

The article indeed just talks about apps optimization for IOS 7 and Xcode 5...

Anyway it seems that something is changing.... :-)

    Ciao

    -------------

Beginning Feb. 1, Apple will no longer accept apps or app updates not built with the latest version of Xcode 5. Additionally, after that date, Cupertino will no longer approve apps or app updates not optimized for iOS 7.

Under the headline, “Make Your Apps Work Seamlessly with iOS 7,” Apple makes it clear that the time is now for developers to hop on the iOS 7 express. For assistance, Cupertino points developers to the company’s iOS Human Interface Guidelines.

Apple first announced iOS 7 at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Six iOS 7 betas followed. The first public release of iOS 7 was on Sept. 20. Developers are currently testing iOS 7.1 beta 2.

I just experienced this reboot issue on my iPad Air 128MB (Wi-Fi Version only) todaywhile doing some email. I just got the air yesterday (12/17/2013). I transfered my iPad mini backup to the iPad Air from iCloud... all went well. Then today (less than 24 hours later) the iPad Air just shut off, went black screen for few seconds, and then flashed the apple logo as it rebooted. When it finally was done rebooting and the screen came back on,  it was showing the "Hello" page, like you get when you turn on the iPad for the first time when it is new. Then it asked my to choose my language, pick the Wi-Fi to connect to, and then took me back into the iPad desktop. Thankfully everything was still intact. All my apps were there, and none of my settings had been changed.

What is the deal with this? Does Apple know about this problem, and are just not saying anything? I love Apple products, but I wonder if they are rushing devices to retail to fast. Maybe they don't spend enough time beta testing their devices, and software... like Microsoft tended to do.

I hope that Apple even bothers to read these forums. Something tells me they don't.

Back to iPad 4 - way better than Air.  Wow!  Constant crashing with the iPad air led me back to iPad 4.  This iPad isn't crashing on ebay and in yahoo mail.  Sooooo nice.  Something is not right with the Air.  It is unfortunate and it cost me quite a bit of money since I sold it for far less than I paid.  Maybe this so called update will alleviate all the crashing and I hope it does.  However, I'm disgusted by the performance and I hope Apple gets it together because the air has been a major letdown.  I've owned all 5 generations and the 4 seems just as quick with no crashes.  I'm sure I'll be done with this forum now that my air is gone.  I recommend everyone who can returns them and goes back to iPad 4.  Hopefully they figure out how to make a better iPad for the next model.

    Complain, using this link apple.com/feedback.

I complained to the Apple store manager and left negatuve feedback... lets hope a decision maker gets to hear about these poor quality issues...

    Hi lighting42paul

This is quite a long thread so not sure if you've read this whole thread.

To fill in you in (synopsis) there's been quite a bit of work that's been done here by some members and following up with apple crew. Apple seem to say its ios 7 issue not them being tight with ram or under testing to meet marketing deadlines. Mmmmm.....

I think the latest news here (after we've given up with these ipad air issues) is waiting to see and get more feedback in whether ios 7.1 2nd beta is solving these issues.

You feeding back to apple will no doubt help this along just like all similar feedback from the big number of punters that this surely had pi55ed off

I strongly encourage you to call Apple support and report the crashing problem to a technical advisor, and ask them to run diagnostics on your ipad Air including helping you downloand and run the "iPhone Configuration Utility" in order to capture error logs while the ipad crashes. My technical advisor did this because my iTunes app store on the ipad Air crashes a lot (while I hold it in a horizontal postion), and he acknowledged that there is a problem with iOS 7.  I did sat that Apple engineers are investigating.

    Please call Apple support.

Thanks!  But, my iPad 4 is running the same software as my Air was and it never crashes.  That is why my logic tells me that it is the model, not the software.  I'm not a computer expert but something seems fishy and again, my ipad 4 does marvelous with the same software that my iPad Air was using.

It's sad to say, but the IPad Air should be called "iPad CRASH"...

Any solution would be a simple workaround, this is the truth.

APPLE, what about your values of quality and the care for perfection that make you the 1st firm in the world?

What so confusing is that I get Safari crashes on my iPad 4 with the same software I had on an iPad air, which also crashed.

My senior advisor says he gets crashes on his iPad 2 but not iPad mini. Both iOS 7.

I'm just frustrated at this point. I gone through three iPad mini with retina and each one has the same issue with random safari crashing. I never had any issues when I had the iPad mini without retina and now I'm thinking that I'm out of luck. I did DFU and restores from iTunes on the previous iPad minis I had. This one, I left on 7.0.3 and the safari crashed so I updated it to 7.0.4 and I'm hoping that no more crashes will happen. The only iPad mini I had no crashes on 7.0.3 but crashed immediately after updating. I'm hoping maybe 7.0.4 will help it to prevent crashes since it crashed at 7.0.3 firmware.

Today I tried samsung galaxy note 10.1 at target store and tried to make it crash by going to 9to5 web site. But no matter what I did, it would not crash. Then I tried all other apple devises (iPhone 5s, ipad2, ipad air, ipad mini retina) they all crashed.
