Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

I would just to be on the safe side. I just got off a chat with support and now performing the recovery process. If this works cool, if not at least it is documented. They stated they would exchange it if this doesn't work but I told them it seems to be an issue with 7.0.4, not the hardware. I let them know my wife is having the issue on her iPhone 5 after upgrading but not on her ipad 4, which hasn't been upgraded. We will see what happens.

I feel that it is a software correctible memory management issue, probably related to ios 7.x.  If I were to return my iPad Air, as others have suggested, what would I replace it with?  I have already sold my older iPad on Craig's list, and have too many i apps to go to an Android device.  My iPhone 5 rarely has a low memory issue, but then I rarely have many apps loaded or do much web surfing with it.  We must find a way for this issue to make the "news" so that others with the problem will come forward, and Apple will be forced to act on it.

I think it is software, I wouldn't return it. But for some reason it isn't getting out that this is an issue,  but it is being reported by many users on different blogs. Hopefully the restore will work; I will know for sure once I have set everything back up.

After restore, give it a couple of days, and then let us know here if it fixed the issue.  I seriously doubt that it will, but good luck to you

I don't think anyone has reported on any forum that any kind of restore or replacement devices have fixed the issue.

Apple engineers are aware of the problem.

    Hold your breath.

I have an app called MemoryInfo. Just now, when a Safari page wouldn't load, I opened the app and it showed 61.6 mb free. After a few seconds of " doing its thing" it showed 547.30 mb free, and the Safari page opened quickly when I returned to it. This indicates to me that our problem must be software related.

Definitely software related.  Even if I have only 2 tabs open in Safari, switching between them often causes them to be white screens and have to reload every time.  Even devices as far as back as my old iPhone 4 could handle more tabs than that without having to reload.

My ipad air crashes started as soon as I upgraded to IOS 7.04. I have low memory crashes as well as one sprinboard. The crashes are  3 or 4 times a day every day since 16th November and I have the ipad since 2nd November.

I started a chat about this memory issue with AppleCare. I was able to get "elevated" to a senior advisor. They want to call me for more information. I have arranged for them to call me on Monday morning.

So far I haven't experienced it after the restore, but it's only been a day. Let us no how the call goes.

Just want to chime in as well. This problem also occurs on my 3rd generation iPad ever since the update to ios7. Black screen with white logo showing for a few seconds and then back to the lockscreen. This happens 2-3 times daily. It's doesn't seem related to any specific app running.

I've restored the device from my backup but that didn't help.

Has anyone had luck with restoring to new?

Set up my iPAD Air as new....still have problems with crashing. Diagnostic logs show "low memory" events. Must get 10-15 crashes a day on Safari and that is only using it a few hours a day.
