Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

After trying out ios7.1 for number of days now I must say this a huge improvement. It still crashes once in a while but that is not an issue anymore. Nothing is perfect in this world. I do wish there was more ram because memory is constantly running low. I also wish iPads had memory card slot but knowing how stingy Apple is with memory that is just wishful thinking.

 

I'll give credit where credit is due. Apple engineers did a great job improving this operating system however this should have been done when this device was first launched. This would have avoided millions of customer dissatisfaction.

    No one elected you spokesman. The majority of the rest of us DO care. I never intentionally crashed my iPad- it decided to do that multiple times an hour all by itself. I am a heavy power user; on the first day it became apparent to me that despite the slim form factor and 64 bit processor the iPad Air was an annoying, crash ridden piece of crap as far as I am concerned.

    You have made the wise choice keeping ipad4 with iOS 6 and iPhone 5 albeit the 32-bit iPhones run iOS 7 without crashing into a tree.

    Actually people with common sense don't care if one website crashes. A lot are reporting no problems either. I'm pretty sure you're just a troll going by all you previous posts in this thread. If an iPad air is crashing at random that is another story as I said before.

    I'm having a hard time understanding if these posts are for real or are troll posts. Why would you care if you can reproduce the crash on some website? I care if it's crashing when I don't try to provoke it. Being able to make it crash doesn't mean that will help solve or is connected to the main problem, if one even exists.

    IOS7 is a resource hog.

     

    Usually when software is "enhanced" for visual reasons as well as to add features, it uses more computing power- ie: CPU + GPU processing and RAM consumption, to name but a few.

    Anyone remember the WIndows Vista fiasco? Super resource hog. Well, IOS7 is bringing back memories of Windows Vista- they did the same thing back then- increased the visual experience as well as added more interface features.

     

    The problem is, Apple only stepped up the CPU and GPU, but didnt increase the RAM.

     

    I suspect IOS7 is very buggy, but I still strongly believe any fix wont overcome the lack of memory problem.

     

    Blackberry Playbook came out about 3 years ago- with 1GB RAM. The HTC Evo 4g came out over 3 1/2 years ago with 1GB RAM.

     

    How is it possible Apple could release a device with 1GB RAM going into 2014?

     

    As someone said earlier in this thread- planned obsolescence. The problem this time? Its close to obsolete on relee.

     

    Steve Jobs would never have allowed it. Actually, since Steve's passing, the RAM hasnt been upgraded at all.

     

    These poor decisions by Apple (software bugs, hardware shortcomings) are systemic.

     

    It IS true that people make the company. Now there are soulless turds making the decisions, reminiscient of what happened after they chitcanned Steve Jobs years ago.

     

    The corporate turds are running Apple into the ground, again.

    Also I have a correction. The HTC Evo 4G had less RAM than I stated. I mixed it up with a similar model.

     

    The Blackberry Playbook, however, did have 1GB RAM nearly three years ago.

    They both keep repeating the same and bumping thread. Seems odd to me.what everyone should understand is for every whiner here there are 10000 people too busy enjoying their tablets with no problems.
