Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

The only reason I keep getting drawn back in to this conversation is because all the new posts to this thread are practically spamming my email- and I cant block them without blocking other Apple emails I want to receive...so I keep getting sucked back into the vortex....

The issue is iOS 7 current configuration uses too much memory. I have been dealing with the engineers at Apple since iOS 7 came out.  When I use memory info or any other memory app on my ipad mini and ipad air it shows roughly 70% of the system memory being used on my ipad mini when only iOS 7 and the one app is running.  I have scaled iOS 7 down to barebones not using Siri or back ground app refresh or dynamic wall papers.  Apple messed up on iOS 7 and the limited memory.  You should be able to search the web without it crashing. Since that is what most people use their iPads for.

With my iPad Air I have random reboots on Pages, Penultimate and Adobe Reader. I use these apps a lot at the university and every day I have lesson these apps made my iPad reboot. I experience random reboot also with safari, mail and various game. If I use iPad less in the day and not for studying I have found I have less reboot or even no one! So I thinks it depends on how someone use their iPad but I need to use it for even 6/7 hours everyday! It's an hardware defect of my iPad Air? Should I send it to the assistance and they will repair it??? :(

It's a software issue. The iPads don't have enough memory for iOS 7.  Some games are okay because the memory is constantly dumping but adobe reader safari and other productivity apps are suffering. I would call apple support and escalate it with them.  I'm waiting on the solution from the engineers tomorrow. Will post what they tell me

I've already call Apple. The support know nothing of the problem, can't see the diagnostic from my iPad and also suggest a problem with the motherboard because after I have restored my iPas as new I have random reboot again. So she suggest to send my iPad to the assistance (I haven't a genius where I live)...but I'm not happy to be without iPad for a week and also I'm not convinced that the problem is the morherboard! Thank you if you will post what Apple tells you!

I honestly dont think there is a problem. These threads happen every release. Google search crashing ( input your device name here ) and you will find articles on it. After reading through this ocean of responses, I can tell you readers who aren't dedicated enough to read this entire thread it is full of people who are advertising android tablets or kindle tablets. I do believe there are some people suffering from annoying crashings ( to the point of frustration ) but this does not indicate a hardware issue, anyone here saying they know or think the A7 chip or 1gb of RAM or some other hardware is the reason, have no clue what they are talking about. These are not book stats, these are optimized machines. I trust apple was methodical enough to know what they were putting in a device. Think of it like this, I'm assuming at least ( and i have not checked so i could be wrong ) that at least 1 million of these devices have been sold so far. So common sense time people, do you think if this was truly a defect that was apples undoing that this thread would be this short? This is a software issue people, not a correlation between the hardware and software, repeat after me. Software. Stop scaring people like me away from our purchases, after some research I can say there are far more people enjoying their devices then complaining on this forum.

So You_Silly, are you saying the Safaei crashes don't happen, they are rare, or don't matter.

Even if there are some trolls here, there are enough real people seeing the issue on multiple replacement devices. Apple senior advisors have acknowledged the issue, even on their personal devices.

Most of us are still enjoying our Apple products, but are disappointed when a flaw gets in the way of getting the most out of our devices.

Try not to think you know anything about the people posting. You don't.

You must not be listening, let me put this very simple for you, I'm saying.. if your device crashes don't scream and run in circles with your arms flailing crying to the apple store. Your device is fine.. now let this thread die.
