Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Hello iphone 5s user since launch. No crashes, no hiccups, I can have literally 50 apps open and 20 browser tabs still no lag or crash. What you people don't understand is nothing is wrong. If you experience crashing, the iOS is still new they will fix it. I hope people can wrap their tiny brains around this.

I don't like talking on anyone else's behalf but on behalf of EVERYONE here, you son/lady are a fwit.

Don't bother responding to this (a number of) times if you do in fact bother as you will not get another reply from me.

I hope you find some decency before your 18th birthday sometime in the upcoming years

It honestly looks like the same whiners who have called me names and made smart remarks are crying for the forum mod .. Interesting. Please note that these three are the same people who keep spam whining about apple products. Very interesting indeed

    Re: Whiners

    I guess this is karma.

On the original Safari crashing regularly topic

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11667427#11667427

I was the one complaining that people were whining because their iPad 1 was crashing due to insufficient memory.

I knew the iPad 1 had too little memory to work effectively with iOS 5.1.1 and I was waiting for the latest generation iPad with more RAM.

So here we are ... the next generation with more RAM ... and yet not enough RAM to support the poorly written iOS 7 code and/or the 64-bit software fork.

    Ain't karma a *****.

    You silly human

I think you already knew you were going to buy an ipad. Knowingly or otherwise.

You join this this thread less than 36 hours ago asking for info and your uncertainty of spending $1009, and within about 27 hours of people's assistance you announce that you will buy one after all.

I think you could have answered some if your questions if you had read most of the thread before entering 2 pages of troll hunting

Meanwhile you have graced us with your charms in this short stint in line with other threads you have started/ contributed to:

    Bottom line: Go. Buy. Enjoy.

    Silly humans,

You said ". What you people don't understand is nothing is wrong. If you experience crashing, the iOS is still new they will fix it. I hope people can wrap their tiny brains around this."

If nothing is wrong with  iOS 7 then why does it keep crashing? Furthermore if nothing is wrong why does it require them to fix it. I have been talking directly with engineers from apple for 2 weeks now everyday I send the data logs and crash reports.  Every day they keep telling me they are working on it and the issue seems to be a lack of memory and iOS 7. As peterdev posted a little bit ago right now ios7 is worse than iOS 6 was.

I'm glad you don't have any issues with your iPhone 5s but look at the thread topic "iPad air running out of memory".  I bet if you looked at your diagnostics and usage data on your phone you will see latest crash errors and probably low memory.  Ignorance is truly bliss in your case.

Maybe you should stop drinking the koolaid, or drink more and stop clogging up this thread so people who want to get the most out of their purchase can get help and answers.

    Wemdog,

I just want to reiterate that Safari on my iPhone 5s crashes on all the sites the crash the iPad Air. I have also have the occasional app crash, every other day or so. On iOS 7.0.4. Thankfully no actual reboots.

The smaller screen size of the iPhone should use less RAM than the iPad, as discussed by previous posters. My iPhone performance is good but not what I would call "bulletproof".

I must admit the fact that some people have problems and others don't make me wonder if there was a bad hardware batch early on. Alternatively maybe people are starting to come out of the woodwork as they realize that there are problems.

I guess it depends on your tolerance level. If you expect Safari crashes as I did with my iPad 1 you're pretty tolerant.

But if you have the latest and greatest you don't expect it to crash … at all. Yes that makes you "intolerant".

I follow this thread because I want to get either an iPad Air or a new Mini. But if the performance is no better than my existing iPad 1 why bother?

I chime in from time to time with the reports about my iPhone 5s just to confirm that the problem isn't limited to the iPad air.

Data wrangler my post wasn't directed at you. It was at you silly humans.   My iPhone 5 runs fine very few issues.  I totally agree with what you were saying.

I had the same issues for my iPad 1.  I expect issues with the latest and greatest.  I

Am at the point where I can't even surf on safari, normally I use my computer but with a 1 month old I can't sit at my desk and do what I need to do so I rely on my iPad.

Well the air and mini w/retina blow the ipad 1 out of the water, right?

The tablets are perfectly usable, but it does annoy me to no end when it does crash. I expect excellence from apple gear. Apple sets the bar so high with their QA and focus on end user experience, that bugs like these run contrary to the image they sell. People pay the apple tax for a lot of reasons, but by and large "it just works" is why.

The unspoken agreement is "sure, I'll pay more for something if it works a lot better"

The crashes cheapen the entire experience. It's not as degraded as a low end 'SamShibaDaewoo' Android tab, not by a mile. I got away from Android in a hurry after a string a handsets plagued by force-close errors and such. Up to this point iOS has been a really smooth ride, but has lost some ground for the time being.

Thanks for popping in with updates on your 5s.

    I was commenting on

Just to reiterate that the 5s is NOT without issues, and that the websites that crash Safari on iPad Air also crash Safari on MY 5s   :-o

As I have said many many many times, I have 0 crashes on my iphone 5s black, i can have maxed out tabs in safari and i can have 20 apps running at the same time, 0 crashes. So it obviously isn't a problem with the RAM or hardware since that obviously would make it crash if it was. And whoever said good luck to me after i spilled apple cider on my phone, no need to wish me luck I already had it replaced with a brand new phone with no fees to me. My point here is the problems with the devices are clearly software, as it has been in the past. Use common sense and stop wasting everyones time.
