Q: Update Unavailable with This Apple ID ??????

This update is for an app downloaded with a different Apple ID. Sign in with that Apple ID and try again.

I have one and only one Apple ID - the one I have used for each and every purchase since the advent of Apple ID.  Why can I not update Pages?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9), 1TB HD, 8GB Ram

I'm still running into the same issue. Another poster in here suggested that it was because we bought the boxed retail versions of the apps, and then upgraded (in this case to Yosemite) the OS before the app, thus the app store wasn't able to take over authentication for the apps. That whole sentence makes me yawn because I'm stuck with an Aperture that doesn't work and I'm not interested in running through a VM just to make it happen. Hopefully calling the Apple Support line will get things moving.

I was having the same issue with 7 of the apps (e.g. iMovie, iPhoto...).  Finally i figured it out.

Click on the name of one of the apps that needs updating.  When it takes you to the page for an app of your choice, click on accept.  It will prompt for passwords for all apps that need updating.  Once this is finished go back to the Updates tab and click "update all".  It should now work.  Hope this helps.

Probably was answered eons ago, but I'm also doing this for the sake of anyone else with this problem too. You have to go to the app store and actually link your ID with it. Then it will update.

Awesome, this worked for me too, thanks!

Today is literally day 1 of my first ever Mac and an hour in and I'm already having to search the Internet to fix error messages. Not exactly the promised land of milk and honey that I was led to believe it would be.

I'm having the same issue. I just updated to Yosemite, now my iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Numbers, and Pages will not open. They're requiring me to update to the latest version, but when I attempt to download the latest version, I get the message, "Update unavailable with this Apple ID."

    ScreenShot 2014-11-10 at 11.02.24 PM.png

I don't have the "Accept" option like others have had. I tried reseting all my warnings for buying and downloading. Neither of those options worked. I have not tried deleting the applications, because I don't want to pay for all of them, and I have tens of thousands of photos in iPhoto I don't want to lose. I do have Time Machine back up, but that option doesn't excite me.

My iWorks package was installed via a DVD, and my Macbook Pro is 5 years old (but has a new hard drive in it).

    Any Ideas?

I solved this problem, instead of going to the update page go to the app itself within the App store.  Here it will say "Accept" where it usually says download and then it will reauthorize you

    Hope this helps

THIS! This actually works. Thanks jpcunneen. After clicking "Accept" I had to re-authorise or something like that, all the iWork apps typing my password each time but after this, the update worked fine. Whatever happened to "it just works"...?

I've got the same problem few weeks ago.  My problematic apps neither have no "Accept" button nor in the Purchases list.  I've then submitted a "Apple Support" request (through App Store > Featured > Quick Link > Support.

Finally, the Apple support has done a remote session with my Mac and fixed the issue - by giving me few redeem codes to "re-purchase" those apps - for free of course:)

    Hope this is useful.

Thanks for the response. There is no "Accept" option in the update page or in the app page itself.

@wewear2 - Did you have to delete your apps before you could "re-purchase" them? And if so, did you lose your content. My concern is that I'll have to delete my iPhoto and then I'll lose thousands of pictures that I have in there.

I had the issue with both Aperture and iWork. If you call 1-800-APLCARE and ask for the Aperture team they will help you out. The Aperture representative told me that they are aware that this has been happening and he happily issued a redemption code, after which I had to delete the Aperture app and then reinstall it from the App Store.

The iWork issue is a little more complicated. If you skipped any operating systems - if you leapfrogged over Mavericks, say - then you're stuck in a weird zone where nobody knows what to do. The representative admitted that the free upgrade to iWork was only free AND automatic if you were in Mavericks. I'm not sure if that was accurate or not, but that's what she said to me. But, if you still have the original install DVD and you give them the product numbers off of it, they can validate you for a redemption code. It was rather an unusual process, and since I didn't have an installation DVD in my hand, I just looked up the product numbers and they said, "Close enough". It was a weird thing, but I did get the code.

Really, if you're dealing with Apple products, the only way to resolve it seems to be to call. It seems like whatever hook they use to drag their products into App Store licensing in a way that Yosemite can understand is not functioning perfectly. If none of the other solutions worked, call! it worked for me.

No, I didn't delete any apps.  The Apple support will show you what to do during the remote session.  You will not lose any pictures / data.

Sorry, I think the Apple support did ask me to delete the apps before I could re-purchase them.  Anyway, I didn't lose any data.

After a ~30 min wait for Apple Support, I was able to get a redeem code for the iWorks collection that I purchased the hard copy of. I did have to provide the serial number from the DVD as proof. iPhoto was free, so I had to delete my app and reinstall it, and all my photos came back up just fine.

    Thanks again for the responses!

Thanks so much!  my new MacBook Pro never gave me a clue about the "Accept" requirement for each Apple App.  You made my day.
