Announce the time is checked off, and it still announces the time :/

It seems pretty simple, announce the time in the Date & Time preferences is there and I checked it off. It still announces the time every hour ??
I tryed searching for this all over the internet to no avail. I have tryed restarting my Macbook Pro and and don't know what else to do. I must have missed something or this may be a genuine software glitch. I don't want to keep my mute button active all the time just for this. 😟

Any help would be appreciated.

😐 well after some searching i finally came to the conclusion that i should shut down my Macbook Pro, physically remove my battery and re-install it. I did just that, I waited for the next hour to pass and by goly it worked hmmm weird.... so i guess I kinda figured this one out on my own.
