iMessage to be received by both Message app AND email?

I have iMessage turned on with my Apple ID linked to my phone number and my yahoo email account. If someone sends me an iMessage, will I receive both a text message as well as an email message? I intend to kind of "backup" my text messages in my email, but I only got the text message but no email message.

Any advice is most welcome!

No.

Someone can address an iMessage to your phone number or to an email address you have registered and enabled with iMessage, not both at the same time. You can also send an iMessage from either one, but not from both at the same time.
