Feb 28, 2014 6:54 AM in response to ShaneD90by spitefuel,Yeah this is my 2nd MacBook Pro Retina from new already.
The first was having problems with loading internet accounts (looked like firmware) and now this one is having repeated WiFi dropping.I think this is the last Mac I'm going to buy. They've persuaded me to move on to Linux and Android.
Despite the excellent customer service it's not worth the poor quality of goods that they are now shipping out.No fix for this and no admission of the problem was pretty much the last straw.
Will have to advise my customers likewise (lesson learned Apple one bad customer experience could cost you a few thousand customers in the long run) as I don't want this poor production quality to reflect badly on my company either.
A real shame as I liked a design centred business model but corner cutting on the quality means the price isn't worth it anymore.
If anyone else is reading this I suggest researching Ubuntu laptops and Ubuntu phones. I think it's time to make a move.
One VERY dissappointed former Apple fanboy.
This kind of issue should have had a patch by now.

Feb 28, 2014 7:20 AM in response to ShaneD90by lacroix88,I know it doesn't solve the problem, but at least it gets you a stable connection until Apple will hopefully fix this (it's a shame they haven't fixed it yet):
I bought a wifi adapter for 7€ (Edimax EW-7811Un) and I am now getting stable internet connection that I can work with.
It's ridiculous and unbelievable that you should have to buy a 7€ adapter to be able to work with a 2000 € notebook, but for me its the only option right now, since I need internet for work.
Maybe this can help some of you for the moment, who rely on a working internet connection.

Feb 28, 2014 7:22 AM in response to ShaneD90by johnniecache,@all the desperate people with wifi problems: I have had the same issues with two new MBPr's. Finally i got a new router (R6300v2) on which I am having no disconnects, stuttering, etc. It really works well with this model, so if you want or need to keep your macbook and have the option of changing your router go and buy that one. I am streaming 1080p (with high birate) over the wifi and move large files without problems.
On Win8.1, transfer rates are even higher, but after all the problems i am simply happy that i can forget about this and it just works as expected. (i use my MBP at home 95%)

Feb 28, 2014 8:52 AM in response to johnniecacheby lacroix88,yeah, well, but that doesn't help when you're outside of your own wifi. The wifi adapter is a cheaper and more effective option.

Feb 28, 2014 11:31 PM in response to lacroix88by Zakarados,I had my rMBP replaced as a DOA due to packet drops/timeouts. I had this replacement since release with no wifi issues until OSX 10.9.2. Getting large amounts of packet drops doing ping tests. Streaming to plex is no longer stable, and drops connection every 5-10 minutes.
Firmware Version: Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 (6.30.223.154.63)
Is it possible to rollback OSX 10.9.2 update?

Feb 28, 2014 11:45 PM in response to lacroix88by johnniecache,Well, it depends. One of the reasons why i bought the MacBook was the "super fast Gigabit WiFi" to replace my ethernet cable setup. Also i needed to buy a 802.11ac router anyway, which is probably the case for others as well. I just mentioned it because the obvious option of an apple airport extreme did not work for me. Same disconnects etc.

Mar 4, 2014 12:43 PM in response to ShaneD90by River Girl,Wanting to upgrade to the Retina 13" MBP so I could get AC and 16GB Ram. Now thinking it would be smarter to stay with my 2012 Air until this is resolved? Does this happen even with new Time Capsule with AC? How widespread is the problem?
-
Mar 4, 2014 12:48 PM in response to River Girlby johnniecache, assuming that the time capsule is similar to the airport extreme: yes. If you really want to enjoy 802.11ac on the macbook pro retina you have to run win 8.1. The hardware is top notch.

It can happen with a Time Capsule, it did for me as I mentioned earlier (p. 33) with 10.9.1 on a 15" rMBP. I was cured both by the beta and the since released 10.9.2 upgrade. Mine should be a fairly recent a production, I bought it less than a month ago and it had to be ordered for me.

Mar 4, 2014 1:00 PM in response to Eric.by johnniecache, hey, what transfer speeds do you get with the time capsule?
My Airport Extreme was only 10-15 MB/s.

Mar 4, 2014 1:22 PM in response to ShaneD90by theshadow124,Hello all, I have been struggling with this wifi issue since I got my machine. I tried the beta driver off this thread back before 10.9.2 came out but it made it worse so I reverted. Since the 10.9.2 official update came out it has been about the same, this is all background...
I want to bring up what seems to have fixed the issues for me, at least for the most part, now the worse case I just need to click on the wireless network I want after waking from sleep(this might be because I was on a different network then when the machine was last awake). But anyway, I have stable pings now and everything seems happy.
In my troubleshooting trying to get things working i discovered that when I tried to add a new network location then close the settings window and re-open it that everything would revert to defaults. So this hinted at a permissions problem.
I then used the "disk utility" to repair permissions on my drive, and noticed that some files would appear in the list regardless of how many times it was "repaired". Something about ACL permissions found but not expected...
So then I ran "
sudo chmod -RN <Path>
on each file/directory that showed up in the list, then after another repair(it will remove ACL permissions from some files that need them) that will re-add them. Most of my issues seemed to be resolved. *sudo only required for some files, advised not to be used unless you get a permissions/file not found error
This issue may be restricted to my machine due to having to using the Apple migration software.
I hope this helps someone else,
Kyle
Edit: I should mention that this was on a 15 inch MBPr but the issues seem to effect both 15 and 13 inch models

My Airport Extreme was only 10-15 MB/s.
Transmit rate is usually between 700-1050 (from the airport menu) when I'm sitting about 2 m from the Time Capsule. For something real world, I just dumped a 2.05 GB ISO onto the Time Capsule, it took 1 min 35 sec.
I have an ac Airport Extreme on the network, but I haven't tested that. Should be fairly similar since it's extending the network via ethernet.

thx
You're welcome. In my case it appears only a driver issue, connection is good and stable with the updated driver.
