Is there a limit on number of images per album?

My impression is that the albums I've created in iPhoto are not 'holding' all the images I've added to them over time. But the only mention I've found regarding limits is the 1,000 images for Photo Stream. I started noticing a number of the albums I created looked emptier than before after the iOS upgrades to 7.0.3 and the iPhoto update(s) to "improve" the App to make it work better under iOS7, fix bugs, etc. I have the iPad 4 with retina display, wi-fi, cellular, 128 GB, back up to iCloud, etc. Wondering if anyone else is noticing peculiarities like this? Is there a better iPad App than iPhoto for creating and organizing images? It would take me more time than I have to recreate then monitor a particular album to verify what I suspect is happening. Some functionality is lost each time there is an upgrade to iPhoto! I realize the iPad is not a laptop but more for "entertainment" but I use it with various Apps to edit and manage a gazillion photos! Maybe it is just me and my imagination, but if not, any tips/suggestions will be most appreciated!

I have a situation that is similar, I have a iClould Shared album that I created with Aperture, it contains 207 photos, on my iPad in the photos app I see the same 207 pictures and all is well, but when I open up iPhoto and select the same albumn it only shows 122! I have no idea why it won't show all of them to me. So now creating a book or making a slideshow is totally useless for me. I'll keep doing things in Aperture until this kind of stuff gets fixed.
