Iphone wont turn on boot logo on then shuts off when unplugged

Iphone 4 will not turn on. When plugged into any source of power, the boot logo is on (for as long as an hour). Once removed from the power source it turns off. Had the phone for a few years and treated it properly. Is it time to burry the phone? I have much needed info on there, if i could find a way to rip it off that would be great.
