Q: find for locate updatedb runs constantly; system performance poor
Since mavericks install (several days ago)
TOP with 10 second refresh shows:
PID COMMAND %CPU TIME #TH #WQ #PORTS #MREG MEM RPRVT PURG CMPR VPRVT VSIZE PGRP PPID STATE UID FAULTS COW
84450 find 20.8 00:16.53 1 0 15 28+ 1216K 1048K- 0B 0B 26M 2385M 84403 84403 stuck -2 158124+ 62
Activity monitor also shows find using CPU and increasing disk activity
every time I
ls -l /var/db/locate.database
-r--r--r-- 1 nobody wheel 5485068 Nov 7 12:39 /var/db/locate.database

-r--r--r-- 1 nobody wheel 5485137 Nov 7 12:55 /var/db/locate.database
it has been updated recently (like within the last few minutes)
