Q: iBooks screen goes dark while reading

When reading in iBooks or Kindle, screen goes dark after 1/2 page or so. Any ideas?

iPad Air Wi-Fi, Cellular, iOS 7.0.3

The following page from the iPad User's Guide refers to the Auto-lock feature. You may want to increase the auto-lock time frame, in order for the iPad not to shut down while you are reading your books:

Sleep/Wake button - iPad User Guide

Set the auto-lock time. Go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock.

I'm a bit puzzled why iOS doesn't seem to support keeping the screen on as long as you're looking at it, I absolutely rely on that feature on my Android phone.
I assume it uses the camera to detect that your eyes are pointed at it.
