Question

Incoming mail not showing up in Mail

I converted over to a Mac Mini running Montian Lion. I also have an older Power Book (the reason for my upgrade since it could nor un Mountain Lion or properly use iCloud) and a first generation iPad.

I can receive but I cannot send and get the message - try another server

I am pretty sure that the mail program is corrupted My PowerBook on Snow Leopard and my iPad both work

I also tried rebuilding the mailboxes - to no avail

Hoiw do I reload my Mountina Lion or the Mail part... Mountina Lion came with my purchase of the Mac Mini

Alternatively should I install Maverick?

POPwith Verizon although I do have separatelya couple of IMAP accounts

Nothing showed up i

I found i coul send mail om my power bok (snowleopard)

I also foundthat i could send from iCloud, from my 'ini Mountain Lion which surprised me

This is being sent from my iPad

Did the servers show as connected in Mail/Window/Connection Doctor?

Verizon Mail setup.

in - pop.verizon.net SSL enabled port 995 password

out - smtp.verizon.net SSL enabled port 465

Yes I tried that and all of my connections showed Green

I was not able to interpret the details

I also tried swithing keyboards from an Apple wireless to a Belkin wired keyboard

Still no good

Should I load up Maverick to replace Mail in case of corruption

Puzzled why iCloud works (for sending and for receiving), but then I don't understand iCloud

Checked the set uo for iCloud in preferences and see for outgoing server as None! (Since I did not set up iCloud)

Per the troubleshooting article I posted, try rebuilding the mailbox. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

Rebuild mailbox

I have no idea if this will work, but it won't hurt anything.

In Snow Leopard, you can use iCloud for some things, such as Mail and Calendars.

I tried Rebuilding the mailboxes/ne of the first efforst. No apparent result

Separately I upgraded to Officwe 2011 and that has the unpleasant surprise that my dock disappears!
