Q: Role of Adaptive Firewall in VPN and errors in log
After two days of troubleshooting why I could not get an external VPN connection to work from my iPad to my server, even though I could do it from on my LAN, I tried, on a whim, to enable the adaptive firewall following Apple's directions. I do not recall explicitly enabling the firewall after I migrated to ML/Server.
I had already been sucessfully port forwarding for HTTPS before turning on the adaptive firewall, but had no luck with the VPN. Turning on the adaptive firewall allowed the VPN to work!
My questions are:
1) Why did this allow it work when it wouldn't with the firewall off?
2) Should my appfirewall.log be reporting anything other than these messages?
server.example.com UserEventAgent[] <Error>: cannot find useragent 1102
server.example.com UserEventAgent[] <Error>: cannot find fw daemon port 1102
Cheers
Now I'm off to figure out why mail has stopped working...sigh...
