I installed the latest (11/7/13) Apple update for Mail and opening mail I got a popup window about "optimizing my mailbox" before it disappeared and then nothing. The Mail app is using cpu and memory, but it won't show the window or anything after almost an hour. This isn't mentioned in Apple's support Web page for it or in any message. Is this one of those go to dinner updates and hope it works?
It shouldn't take nearly that long.
Quit Mail, force Mail to quit, if necessary. Launch it again.
Thanks. I suspect the Mail Unread app did something, but it reopened fine.

It took about a half second for mine to "optimize" but some people have tens of thousands of messages.
If the problem won't go away try this new release.

Mail is still broken. I maintain a church address database in Excel. I used to beable to cut the email addresses from the spreadsheet and past that into the address section of a new message. Since Maverics updat all I get in the paste is the 1st address. The update to mail continues with the broken clipboard.
Doesn't work for me, still no Gmail folders.
