Q: Facetime Camera not working in any application

Brand new 27'' Imac with 32gb of RAM and 3TB fusion drive.

Installed Mavericks from scratch and all updates.

The camera shows up in skype, but the test screen is black.

PhotoBooth and Facetime go into a tailspin (rotating circle).

Under System Resrouces it shows up too.

FaceTime HD Camera (Built-in):

Model ID: UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34065

Unique ID: 0x1470000005ac8511

I have reset the PRAM and done the unplug and replug thing. I have rebooted and prayed.

If anyone has any voodoo, I'll take it.

Mavericks should have been pre installed on a breand new iMac ??

Hello aufhammer,

I have the same dilemma! If you found the solution please let me know. I also tried all the above like you and now too resort to voodoo! I even downloaded Yosemite.... no solution there either. Black screen on FaceTime and same with Skype and spinning wheels.
