Q: Apple mail does not sync with gMail

Today my Apple Mail no longer provides me with my gMail in the inbox.

I can send mail to my gMail address and it shows in the Sent box ...but it never makes it to my Inbox.

If I log directly into Google Mail the email message is there.

This has always worked before.

Also, just now I downloaded and installed the Apple update for Mail ...which said it fixes some gMail account issues ..but I still have the problem.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

    Are you using 2-factor authentication?

Those settings look correct however, try port 587 for the SMTP server.

I have had this problem for the past three days - before it had been intermittent. Tried everything that has worked before, but no. In desperation, I deleted my account within Apple Mail and set it up again. All working now - fingers crossed!

Is crazy delete and create one time per day....

i cant understand how apple not fix this problem.

Now i have the same problem, i can send but receive is not working.

Im using Airmail for this particular email account (Google apps) but i want to use just one!

I have given up on Mail for now. Airmail from the iTunes store is working great.

What's your other account?  As far s I can tell, Airmail will work with any IMAP account.

Also, in response to an earlier post:  As far as I know, the only way in Airmail to get your personal domain to work if you run your domain through gmail is to forward the emails to a gmail account.  Because Airmail is alias-friendly, you can make it look like your replies/new emails/etc are coming from your personal domain.

Of course, "as far as I know" may not be very far . . .

A support request to the Airmail team might also answer this question (if it hasn't been answered already).

$1.99 and problem solved.  Apple should have fixed their own, but for the price of Airmail, I have moved on.

I spent €2.600 for my Mac. Why should I spend $1.99 for reading my emails? I know that Airmail works fine, but is not in the system. Is not part of OSX.

Use the Gmail website, Gmail works very well in its own environment. Or change email provider to one that can write a properly compliant Imap system.

Fede N/lucamenna, I don't disagree at all.  Neither you nor I should have to spend additional money.  I also paid a lot of money, and I received wifi issues, the sleep issue, sound issues, etc.  None of which Apple has shown the least bit of concern for.  I just can't lose more time and money hoping for some integrity from Apple to emerge (which I believe is what Apple banks on - for us to give up).  They have no integrity, and they will stay silent - that is cheaper than morals I guess.  For the additional $1.99, at least I don't have to be constantly reminded of it.  I am still reminded when I sit waiting for my WiFi to reconnect.

Csound1 - yes, that will work.  It is what Apple is hoping we all do instead of them needing to pay attention to their customers.

As Google is the one making money off of your stuff (making them your customer) maybe they should fix their email system so that it actually is Imap compliant?

It also doesn't work with my shaw mail.  I guess I will have to contact them too?  And Apple isn't making a fortune off of us, as is google?   I understand you don't like Google.   The worst part is their complete indifference to the problem - neither Apple nore Google are acknowledging the problem.
