Calendar.app won't start

Hello. I had the problem before upgrading to Mavericks but thought the upgrade would solve my problem, however it persists.

Here what happens:

  1. I click the Calendar-icon in the dock.
  2. I see the program window open with a popup with the text "Updating calendars"
  3. After 2-3 seconds I get the message "Calendar unexpectedly quitted"
  4. In the error report I get (partial information):

Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Exception Type: EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION (SIGILL)

Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000001, 0x0000000000000000

Application Specific Information:

Could not create XPC connection to the CalendarAgent, connection interrupted or invalidated more than 5 times

Application Specific Signatures:

CalPersistence nil connection (CalPersistenceCreationDomain - 3)

Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

5. I tried deleting all calendar settings that I could find

~/Library/Calendars/*
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.iCal/*

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist

Anyone can think of something else to try?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Check if CalendarAgent is running

sudo launchctl list | grep CalendarAgent

If it's not running enable/start it

launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.CalendarAgent.plist

Open Calendar again. Worked for me!
