Using Safari /mac OSX 10.6.8 in Gumtree freebies the name of the a seller and contact details is present only for an instant and then disappears leaving only an email box and boxes for your email address and your name - just on my I Mac not on my Macbook

I am using My I Mac 10.6.8. Recently when I go to Gumtree freebies, the details of the seller are present for only an instant and then the only boxes are for writing an email and for putting your email address and your name. The tab to say that your email has been sent is not there either. This issue is only on my I Mac not on my Macbook Pro. Is this due to Malware? What can I do to restore normal function?

Thank you.

Hi Andy

In the meatime I have managed to Contact Gumtree via email and the link above is their answer to me submitting a "ticket" to them

I have answered that I am using Safari Version 5.1.10(6534.59.10)

My browsers are up to date.

What would your opinion about their suggestions be?

Thank you

>>Would you advise installing an antivirus program eg Avast or Sophos for a Mac for home use where I do not go onto unrelaible web sites?

I wouldn't, even if you did. & definitely not Avast, even if you insisted on one.

There are one or two Apple 'App Store' AV apps that are 1: Free; 2: only 'do' anything when you run them; and 3: (like 2,being from the App store) they don't install any system extensions etc which might cause problems.

VirusbarrierExpress, for example...
