Q: Back to my mac broken after latest Apple updates

After updating all of my Macs to 10.8.5 and noticing that Apple updated remote desktop among other things though an auto-update via the app store, back to my mac (BTMM) is largely broken across my Macs. The only successful connection I can manage is connecting a MacPro to a MacBook Air while the two computers are on the same network. The MacBook Air however cannot share the MacBook Pro desktop, nor can I connect to the MacPro from another remote iMac or vice versa.

File sharing seems to be working fine across all of these Macs.

Thus far, I have attempted to turn BTMM on and off on each Mac in the system prefs, have logged out and back into iCloud on each Mac, and run typical system diagnostics like permission repairs, followed by rebooting etc. Nothing has worked and I am out of ideas.

Before I drop $ on a logmein account, I am hoping an iCloud guru out there can provide additional suggestions.

OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
