Interesting loop: for some reason iGetter won't start up again. So I have to download another downloadmanager. Although I have uninstalled iGetter, the icon keeps popping up in the dock when I want to download for example a downloadmanager at eltima.com.
How do I delete iGetter completely and how can I then download a new downloadmaneger without having a downloadmanager?
(I think I will lie down for a minute now) 😉

You don't need one - removing it should allow downloads as usual.
Thanks very much, but the problem is not solved. When I type 'iGetter' in Spotlight there seems to be nothing left of the iGetter software, but the strange thing is I can't get rid if the start up icon in my dock. It just bounces back into the dock, something that is a first for me.
Furthermore it looks like nothing happens when I try to download new firmware for some hardware. I click on 'download', but nothing shows up in the Downloads-list of Safari.
I don't understand what is happening.
It seems that the uninstaller isn't working for you... did you follow the manual removal instructions... copied below.

To open your user library folder on Lion, you can use your Terminal app (/Applications/Utilities folder). Start Terminal and paste the following line (then press Return):
open ~/Library/
