Garageband update
GarageBand can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.9.0 or later is required.
I have
Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5
Does that mean I need to downgrade my ipad version of GB so I can share between ipad and mac?

Hi Chris,
The easiest option is to upgrade to Mavericks, which is free, via the App store. That will provide the right software environment on your Mac HD.. All you need to do is check is whether you have the correct hardware specification to run it on your machine and you can obtain that information by looking at the App store information for Mavericks.
You can then download Garageband 10 from the App store, free, and enjoy the benefits of a new OS and two Garagabands, (iPad and Mac), which can share files. And, all that for free!
Enjoy.

cant gat garageband 10 in the app store
You can download Garageband 10 from the App store, for free, but you will need to install Mavericks, first, if you don't already have it. (Back up your current system first, as a precaution.). Garageband 10 requires the newest version of OSX to run.
Hope this helps.

Hello ontradio,
What if you can't upgrade to mavericks?
I have this issue on a White MacBook Classic (2007) and it does not support Mavericks.
What I don't understand is why can't Apple just allow to download the latest version of the software (GarageBand in this case) that your OS can support. This would be the logical thing to do. Isn't it?
Regards.
