I'm having iPod touch 5g problems... Please help?

This morning I woke up, and turned on my iPod. Simple. Wasn't shutoff completely, just locked. So I clicked the home button, and unlocked it. Well, then later I was using Safari, and the Twitter app. And the wifi had been deciding to turn on and off randomly. I would slide up the settings, and it showed wifi was turned on. So I tapped it to turn it off, then tapped it again to turn it back on. I had to do that many many times. Then, I was listening to music this morning, and it had shut off twice by itself. It just reset itself automatically. Then about 15 minutes later it did the same thing except 3 times. As well as the wifi glitching out, and my iPod just resetting itself, the clock wasn't, and still hasn't been working. I have it set to "Set automatically" and it keeps going back. For example, this morning at 9:00 I unticked, then ticked the "Set Automatically" option, and it changed it to 9:00. Then I locked my iPod. After waiting about 5 or so minutes, I unlocked my iPod, and it had read 8:30. Then today, at 9:30 ish, I repeated the same step. Unticked, then ticked the "Set Automatically" option. At about 4:05, I had turned my iPod back on. (it was in standby mode from 9:15 to 4:05.) When I turned it on, it had gone back to saying it was 9:29. Now it is 4:38 ish, and I had to do the same thing about 10 minutes ago. And of course after waiting a few minutes, it had gone back to saying it was 4:29. I am unsure of what is wrong? I don't know if it's a hardware problem, and I need to go get a new iPod or what. It's a 5th generation, 32gb. Updated to iOS 7. I bought it at Best Buy, and am unsure if I still have the reciept. I just bought the iPod literally 15 days ago. Just over 2 weeks. I'm sure that I still have a warranty. I'm sure I have a 30 day warranty at BestBuy, and a 1 year warranty at Apple. I did not purchase a warranty, but as I do recall from my last iPod, when purchasing an iPod, you get a 1 year warranty included... So my main question is, what do I do? I've tried resetting it. I haven't done a hard reset, where I wipe my iPod, and start from scratch. I'm unsure that I need to. But If I do, I will. I don't know if I need to go in and get a replacement, or what. Please help!!

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

I'm having this same issue. I've had my Ipod about 14 months now. I have no warranty. But I've done a full reset to factory settings and it's still acting the same exact was as mentioned in the post. I'm wondering if restoring it to a backup help or if there is any other way to fix it. I'm really disheartened by this problem I've been having for a week now.

Hey ErickMerryman, so I took care of the problem right as it happened which fortunately was a few months ago and only two weeks after I had first purchased my iPod. I took it into the Apple store. Where I live there was a Mac store just about a mile away at the mall, but no. I had to go to an actual apple store for help because the problem wasn't specifically towards a Mac. So I took it down and talked I a representative about my problems. Described everything that happened to me and answered a few questions. They told me that it wasn't supposed to be happening, and they did the kind gesture of just replacing it for me. Mine was faulty. If I were you, I would head into the Apple store and see what they can do for you. I'm not saying they can just replace it for you, since you said that you have had it for 14 months, and I had mine for 14 days. And you also stated that you do not have a warranty. Still go into Apple and see what they can do to help you. They may be able to hook it up and fix it themselves or search for the problem and hopefully solve it, etcetera etcetera. Set up an appointment at the Genius Bar located at any of the nearest Apple Stores, and then go in on your selected date and time. Good luck!
