Mounting digital camera

Hello,
I am trying to mount my Canon PowerShot A95 so I can access the camera through Finder (so I can transfer some data to the camera). I can see the camera find in iPhoto but it dosent show up in Finder or on my desktop. Any way to access the camera outside of iPhoto?
Thanks.

According the the specs for your camera, it does not support USB "Mass Storage" mode. In order to show up on the Finder's Desktop, a camera must support this standard. Your camera utilizes another standard called "PTP" which allows it to be accessed via programs like iPhoto or Image Capture but not in the Finder.

If you don't want to use iPhoto, use Image Capture which is in your Applications folder. Within that application's preference panel you can change the program that launches when your camera is connected. If you prefer Image Capture after trying it, change the preferences such that it launches on camera connect.

skeelo221,

I don't think Canon digital cameras mount that way in OS X. Other digital camera brands do, so I think it must be a Canon driver issue-a quick search here on the forums shows that you are not alone in this.

You can try using the Image Capture app that Apple provides instead to access your pictures.

edit: like what Peter Arnold says, above 😝

That is strange because it appears as such under XP.
