Problems since after Maverick...

Thanks for reading, here is the key issues. .

I have a Mac Mini hooked up to a time capsule via ethernet and since after updating to Maverick,

  • After power-cycling my mac, it loses internet connection both with ethernet and WIFI. (No application (FTP Application, App Store) or browser works except for Chrome).
  • Unplugging the ethernet cable and plugging it back fixes the issue, but it resumes again if Mac mini goes to sleep or is turned off.
  • Network setting on the Mac Mini shows that it is coneected to ethernet with the IP Address and everything.
  • Removing the ethernet setting and setting it up again does not fix the issue.
  • I have also tried a different ethernet cable, issue persists
  • My time capsule device recently started acting up with the hard drive portion of it falling but the network still works perfectly on my mac air although i only connect to it wirelessly with the Air and wired on the mini.

Any help or advice to resolve this issue would be highly appreciated, i can't tell you how annoying it is..

Thanks in advance for all recomendations.

Hello, seems 10.9 may do t also.

See if it's related to this...

The 2012 macs (and later apparently) not waking normally from sleep after hours being in sleep. (noted here ...

"Why 2012 iMac/2012 Mac Mini won't Wake After Hours of Sleep (Hibernates/Powers Off)")

The sleepimage file still reappears even if never slept. Delete it (hibernate off, etc) - within minutes its back.

A note on that here - http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/Chameleon_SSD_Optimizer.html

Try this: "sudo pmset autopoweroff 0" and "sudo pmset standby 0"

Hmmm, for the Network problem, try this...

Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712

10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.

The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.

If using Wifi/Airport...

Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

208.67.222.222

208.67.220.220

(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).

Click OK.

Called apple customer service and they assisted me in fixing this issue. Steps i took with them over the phone.

Turn off ethernet and connect to wifi, under network settings, go to advanced, and DNS, under DNS servers, click the plus sign and type, 8.8.8.8 and on the search domain, click the plus sign and enter google.com, click ok and then apply.

Then go to disk utility, select the macintosh HD, verify first and then repair the disk.

power cycle your device and then double check that wifi is working properly. (if your using WIFI only, then your good to go, otherwise -

do same thing again but this time with Ethernet and do not repeat the verify and repair step.

power cycle again and ethernet should now be working.
