Pages 4.3 - unable to duplicate document (unavailable function)

Hi,

I've recently ran across a problem with Pages 4.3 after the update on Mavericks... (or at least I suppose it was the origine of the problem).

The fact is I cannot dupplicate a document any more (or save as...), the shortcut shift+cmd+s is totally unavailable, doesn't even appear in the File menu.

I have uninstalled Pages 5.0 'cause I find it unusable for the time beeing. But in Numbers and Keynote 2013, this shortcut is available. It has however disappeard in the '09 versions... And, surprisingly in Preview.app as well.

This is quite annoying and I couldn't find any answer or even a similar problem anywhere...

Thanks already for your tips or solutions :-)

Sorry mate, but I think I know what happens on my computer...

Two weeks ago (under Mountain Lion) I could duplicate a file in Pages, Numbers or Preview using the cmd+shift+s shortcut. Now (under Mavericks) this is impossible... And I don't get why...

Here's a screenshot of my menu now in english...

You see... There's no "Save as..." option. And if I press the alt key, all I get is the possibility to "close all" as another menu option... Nothing more...

And what is disturbing is that the cmd+shift+s works in Numers 3.0 for instance but not in Numbers 2.3 (where I have the same problem as in Pages).

I really use this "duplicate" or "save as..." function all the time and it is quite annoying.

Oh and BTW this happens on two different computers... both were under 10.8.5 2 weeks ago and under 10.9 now...

Peter,

Since Lion, the shortcut Marcel is talking about, Command Shift S has been assigned to File > Duplicate as he says, and since Mountain Lion, adding Option to the combination got Save as… back, as you said.

But, in either case, one of those items should show up in the File menu between Save and Revert… but his screenshots show that it has gone missing. I haven't installed Mavericks, but I also haven't read about anyone else noticing this. Maybe another localization bug?

Peter,

A defective application file might have seemed more plausible, if it hadn't manifested on two different computers.

Localization did seem unlikely, but Fruhulda has mentioned several times a helper application to switch the language for Pages without switching the system language, and the OP didn't mention how he switched the menu language. Numbers 3 has been demonstrating some serious localization problems, and some of the localization bugs in the past have had no obvious connection to the language.

Maybe a single corrupt application on an external drive is being run on both computers; maybe, to save bandwidth, a single downloaded installer was used to update the OS on both computers or a single download of the application was installed on both computers, and the download was defective. But Marcel hasn't posted anything to suggest that any of those situations apply.

Nothing happens when I press the option key... I only get the "Close" option that changes to "Close All", but nothing more.

And these to computers are my personal computers and I installed the apps separately on both computers and, again and again and again, everything was working great under 10.8.5 and after the update, there's this problem showing...

I tried to remove all prefs files but it didn't change anything...

I really don't understand...
