No sound after sleep

Is anyone else having a problem on their Mac (mines the rMBP late 2013) where the sound doesn't work after sleep?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Although the update 10.9.2 has defnitely cured my audio loss, there may be other issues such as the audio preference files - maybe. Just to make sure, you do know there are two Library folders? One is in your user directory of folders and the other is in your main hard drive directory of all your folders. Make sure you choose the right "library" folder to find the audio folder inside the "preferences" folder. Don't look in your "user" directory!

I have the same issue: running a late 2013 15" rMBP with 10.9.2 and having the same issue - I've closed the lid (ie put my MBP to sleep) with the headphones left plugged in - when I wake it back up, there's no sound at all - nothing is being outputted from the headphone jack or the built-in speakers. The only thing that fixes it is the restart.

I don't see why I have should have to go into Terminal and mess around with code - I should be able to keep my headphones plugged in whilst my MBP sleeps and not worry about the consequences - please sort it out, Apple!

After performing the update to OS X 10.9.2 on FEB 25 I have recently had two incidents on separate days where the sound loss when waking from sleep has reoccured. In my case, the update made the sound problem pretty much dissappear until now. It rarely occurs but once is too much for me. I decided to repair permissions. It reminds me of my older days when I needed to use a registry cleaner on Windows - just kidding.

This worked, you are awesome!

Here's one (automator script) doing the same thing posted in another thread that also apparently works:

"Had to zip it up or it wouldn't work when downloaded. So unzip first (should be able to just double-click), and then move the file to your Applications folder. The first time you launch it, you may get a message that it's from an unidentified developer or something like that. In that case right-click on the application and choose open, then click on the Open button. Then type in your admin password."
