Ipad will not sync movies

Hi - help required please.

I have just attempted to sync an MPEG-4 video file using USB in the usual way. To start with, when starting to sync the spare capacity on my iPad reduces as expected but once the sync is complete the capacity goes back to the previous level and the movie does not appear on the iPad.

I have a number of movies on iTunes and I have tried to sync several other ones individually to see of it is a problem specific to that file, but none of them will sync either. I have now run out of ideas so any help gratefully appreciated.

Oh and by the way, I have the latest version of iTunes, am on IOS7 on the iPad and have plenty of space available to take the films I am trying to sync.
