Nov 9, 2013 6:49 AM in response to bigpitaby iOS *08*,Thanks for clarifying. I'm suspecting that it could be network connection related issue. Can you try to turn on Personal Hotspot on your iPhone and have your iPad connect to it (Wi-Fi or bluetooth) then check the Find my iPhone app again?
P.S. You might want to check this support article too - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4006.

Nov 9, 2013 9:55 AM in response to bigpitaby bigpita,I am now thoroughly confused. I DID turn ON the personal hotspot on my iPhone without a problem BUT it showed a password that I did NOT recognize at all. Nevertheless I went onto the ipad and accessed the find my iphone app which was showing iPad under ALL devices but NOT the iPhone. The find my iphone app on my iphone 5 shows "iphone" under ALL devices but NOT the ipad.
Obviously this does NOT accomplish what I am trying to do...ie locate either the iPhone or iPad from the other device. I dont need to be able to locate either one from the same device. I obviously dont need to locate either the iPhone or iPad when I have the one I am trying to locate in my possession.
I hope I have made this clear to you.
I am trying to accomplish this because my wife misplaced the iPad in a store the other day and only through the "Grace of God" were we able to locate it.We both had our iPhone 5's but could not see the missing iPad on the find my iPhone applications on either iPhone 5.
I would greatly appreciate help with this dilemma.

Nov 9, 2013 10:17 AM in response to bigpitaby iOS *08*,Personal Hotspot's Wi-Fi password is random but you can change it to your own preference.
Going back to your issue, have you checked the support article I shared to you - TS4006?
Device does not appear in Find My iPhone
This can occur if:
The date on your device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch) is incorrect. Choose Settings > General > Date & Time to check and set the date.
Your device is not up-to-date. It needs to be running iOS 5 or later.
Your iCloud account is not configured on your device. Choose Settings > iCloud and enter your iCloud account information.
You have multiple iCloud accounts entered on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Only one account can have Find My iPhone turned on at a given time. Log in to Find My iPhone with your other iCloud accounts until your device is listed.
There's a scheduled maintenance or another issue affecting Find My iPhone. Check the System Status site to see if this is the case.
Your device has lost network connectivity. If you have access to your device, and it appears to have an active Internet connection, enable and then disable Airplane mode. If you continue to have issues, turn the device off and back on.
Find My Mac can only locate your Mac if it is connected to the Internet via a known Wi-Fi network. If your Mac is connected to the Internet only by an Ethernet cable, Find My Mac will not be able to locate your Mac.
Device appears in Find My iPhone, but is offline
This can occur if:
Your device is powered off, such as when the battery has run out. Note that the remaining battery for the device, if it's connected to the Internet, displays in the upper-right corner of the information pane of the selected device. You can still play a sound on, send a message to, issue a lock request, or initiate an erase of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. The command will be received after the device is turned on and regains its Internet connection.
Your iPhone’s cellular service has been terminated by your wireless service provider. If you contacted your service provider to report your device lost or stolen before locating your phone, and they deactivated your SIM card or account, this would be expected. If this is the case, you may no longer be able to locate, display a message on, or erase your iPhone. For more information, read about what to do if your device is lost or stolen.
Your iPad, iPod Touch, or Mac is asleep and not connected to a known Wi-Fi network. You will still be able to request an erase, send a message to display and lock your device, or request that a sound be played. The command will be processed when your device is awakened and connected to the Internet.
If you are trying to track your wife's lost iPad, make sure you are logging in with the iCloud account setup on that lost iPad in Find my iPhone app on the iOS devices w/ you. Alternatively, you can sign in to www.icloud.com on a computer. If the lost iPad is turned off, therefore not connected to the Internet, you won't find it.

Nov 9, 2013 10:59 AM in response to iOS *08*by bigpita,Thank you once again for your very prompt reply.
I did go to the support page you provided in an earlier reply and I think everything checked out OK, but perhaps not.
one of the items: "
This can occur if:
Your iCloud account is not configured on your device. Choose Settings > iCloud and enter your iCloud account information.
When I go to settings>icloud> account>Apple ID I see different Apple ID's. I cannot see the passwords because they are just dots on the screen. Am I correct in assuming that this is the cause of my problem?
I see that you mention something about this in your last paqragraph of your most current reply.
I did as you said and depending on which iCloud ID I logged in with I WAS able to see the location of the corresponding device. Is there anyway of creating the same iCloud ID for both devices so both devices can be listed under ALL DEVICES on the find my iPhone app?
Thank you for your timely responses.

Nov 10, 2013 9:51 AM in response to bigpitaby bigpita,Right now my wifes iPad and iPhone both have find my iPhone installed on them but the problem is that both of them list just that one device from which you are accessing the app.We canNOT see the other device listed when clicking on ALL devices thus making it impossible to locate the missing device from the device that is in our possession. I have determined that the problem is that we have different ID's and passwords for each device.
My question to anyone who can help is: Can we somehow create the SAME ID and Password for both devices after now that they are both different for each device and both devices now have find my iPhone loaded on them.
We would like to be able click on find my iPhone on either device and be able to see BOTH devices listed and be able to locate the missing device.
Thank you for any and all help anyone can render and have a good day.

Nov 13, 2013 2:01 PM in response to bigpitaby rigormortis, did you try and click on ' show all devices on icloud ' ? did u try going to www.icloud.com ? a lot of people go to find my iphone and just look at the green dots and click on the green dots. and wonder where their device is. they don't actually try clicking on show all my devices
as long as you set up ios 7.0.3 and the ipad it should be linked to your icloud account and be visible on www.icloud.com
what does it say exactly ? does it say off line ? or does it not show up at all on show all devices ?
erase and restore ipad and make sure you enable find my iphone ( or log on to icloud.com ) during setup of the ipad.
as far as being offline or being able to locate, you need to understand that the ipad wifi only units have to be connected to some kind of wifi network, and apple must know the location of those wifi networks, in order to guess where your ipad is. have you bought the ipad with the cellular radio, you would of gotten more accurate results quicker.
since tmobile is giving away 200 mb of cellular data a month, i wish more people would realize that this gracious offer of tmobile is going to help them reunite their ipads a lot faster then if it had wifi. i mean sheesh how is a wifi only ipad going to get up and walk across the street to a local wifi hotspot, and then connect to it, like mcdoanalds or starbucks and click on I AGREE when it is just sitting their locked wirh a pin code.
this other stuff about personal hotspot mode is nonsense. go to some place any place that has wifi and try it
if the ipad is in air plane mode, it won't be able to be located. if someone turns off location services on the ipad, then clicking on LOST mode will force location services back on the ipad, and lcoation servcies will stay on until it is unlocked
