new laptop (Windows 8) won't install itunes.

I keep trying to install iTunes and I get to the stage where this comes up:

then from this the status bar doesn't move or show signs of installing anything.

I have tried downloading the 64 bit version also which I have read is more compatible for windows 8, but this still does the same thing.

Any advice please?
