How to uninstall gdisk?

I installed the free disk managing app gdisk using gdisk-0.8.8.pkg on my mac. How can I remove this?

Can you point to where you installed it from, I assume gDisk is this app…

http://gdisk.sourceforge.net/

The version numbers don't seem to match up so it could be another app.

If you have the package, open that, the installer will run. Click through the opening screens until the installer menu is active across the top of the screen.

Choose 'File menu > Show files'

That will list all the files the installer creates. You can navigate to those files & delete them. Just be carefull to avoid deleting the items higher up the file path (don't delete /Applications for example).

Post back if this is unclear, you could also use apps like AppZapper, but these tend to give you the idea that you can 'zap everything in sight'.

Doing the trick I mentioned earlier shows these files…

User uploaded file

They are installed inside the invisible /usr folder. You need to perform these 3 steps inside an admin account (or provide an admin account password to modify the system)…

1.

Open the hidden folder with the Finders "Go menu > Go to Folder…" enter /usr/sbin

Remove the items called…

cgdisk

gdisk

sgdisk

2.

Open the hidden folder with the Finders "Go menu > Go to Folder…" enter /usr/share/doc

Remove the folder called…

gdisk

3.

Open the hidden folder with the Finders "Go menu > Go to Folder…" enter /usr/share/man/man8/

Remove the items called…

cgdisk.8

gdisk.8

sgdisk.8

Here is a full list of the items you should have removed.

/usr/sbin/cgdisk

/usr/sbin/gdisk

/usr/sbin/sgdisk

/usr/share/doc/gdisk/ <- this is a folder

/usr/share/man/man8/cgdisk.8

/usr/share/man/man8/gdisk.8

/usr/share/man/man8/sgdisk.8

The other items in the 'Files from gdisk-0.8.8' image should not be removed.

Take care not to delete any other files, these are system directories and removing too much will break other parts of the OS.

Good luck.
