Episode description works in iTunes by not Podcasts app.

Hi,

I am starting up a new podcast and trying to get it set up in an ideal way for iTunes. I am using a service called rsspect.com and also Feedburner. I have it working except the episode description. The show description works in iTunes and Podcasts, but the episode description only shows up in iTunes not in the Podcasts app. I subscribe to other podcasts where I can see the episode descriptions. Any help would be much appreciated!

The feed appears to be correctly constructed, but the 'itunes:summary' tag should not contain links or html, just plain text (iTunes does not render html or links).

I can't advise on the podcasts app as I don't have an iPhone: you could ask in the iPhone forum. I can't see any reason why there should be a problem but I don't know the podcasts app gets its info. However in order to look more closely I would need the URL of the feed - please always post this and not its contents, and also the URL of the Store page. I can't promise that this will throw anything up, but you never know.

Haven't got it on the iTunes store yet, once I get all the kinks ironed out I plan to submit it for listing in iTunes though 🙂

Everything looks fine: the feed is valid and can be subscibed to in iTunes where it all works as expected.

So I'm afraid I have no idea why the podcasts app should not be reading the feed correctly; if you ask in the iPhone forum others may be able to check it and see if they get the same result.
