Q: How do I ensure my iMessage only appears on 1 user on my Mac Book?

Hope someone out there can help me. My MacBook is used by both my sons and I wanted to know if I can stop my iMessage going to all users? Currently if they are logged in on their own account they can get notifications and can access my iMessage.

Both have iPhones so can a setting be changed to provide them both with their own iMessage?

Do your sons have there own Apple ID? That is the best way to keep your information separate.

Using your Apple ID for Apple services

When you set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can use the same Apple ID for iCloud services and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBooks Store. You can also use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match).
