Playlists won't sync to my iPhone 5!

I've never had this issue before but every so often I like to manually sync my iPhone with iTunes on my MacBook. I created a load of new playlists on my iTunes because I find it easier to create playlists on a laptop but they won't sync to my iPhone.

The way I sync it is just with playlists so I have a smart playlist of all the checked songs (because I don't want my entire library on a 64 gig phone) and then I just check any additional playlists I want on it then sync and it's worked fine up until now.

All software is up to date, as is iTunes.

I am having the same issue with syncing a new playlist to my iPad and iPhone 5. I have looked at the other postings about this issue, tried the suggestions and STILL have the same problem. Why should we have to change the sync settings at all if we want to add a new playlist to our other devices. This doesn't work anyway, so that suggestion is not helpful.

Can someone please figure out what the answer to this issue might be? And then address the problem with a permanent fix? This has been an ongoing problem for some time now.

I have exactly the same issue with my iPhone 5S. However, my ancient iPod syncs fine with my new playlist updates. Could this be an iOS 7 issue? Any thoughts?

Has anyone tried reformatting the iPhone and reloading a fresh iOS software install? It's strange that only a few iPhones are affected. I'll try it and let you know.

I hope this helps someone. I was ready to toss my computer and iPhone into a wall. When I went to my music tab for my iPhone in iTunes I only checked the playlists I wanted and unchecked evrything else under Artists, genre, etc. and it finally synced my playlists. I also had to do a manual backup to put my music purchases in itunes that were made on my iphone.

I'm having the same issue, but it's playlists, songs, and artists. Also, if I add a song to an existing playlist that is already synced with my phone, it will not add the new song or make any changes to the order of songs. This is just with my iphone 5. Playlists and music with my super old ipod work just fine.

I've manually synced, wiped out the music and reloaded, and restored it. The restore took for the night, but when I woke up the next day, all the new stuff was gone again. It makes me wonder if this is an iCloud issue. It doesn't make any sense and I am ready to slam my phone against the wall.

Can someone offer any other suggests before I swear off apple products forever?
