Q: Maverick Wifi issue

I have a very annoying since since upgrading to maverick.

The Wifi connection seems to drop as soon as there is inactivity (either just no doing anything or going to sleep).

there is an annoying wait while the wifi waits with wifi:Looking for network and then reconnects.

I have other devices on the network (windows 7 laptop, ipads, iphones and tablets and none of them have similar issues.

I see there is a lot of reports of wifo issues with Mavericks, but no feedback from Apple on any investigations, or reported fixes.

Any one got similar issues?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

    thanks for the help, but i have tried all these things already.

     

    It appears there are many threads on this issue, but i never see any formal Apple response.

    Used to think apple products were superior, but without a reliable wireless, my Macbook is useless to me. may as well just use my windows 7 laptop.

     

    Apple, can we get some mature respones in this please?

    I thought this was solved but wifi disconnects every 10min or so. Please help already tried everything above. When I upgraded Lion it had the same if not similar issue that was solved later by updates please I need my wifi so bad!!!

    I've also been having a lot of issues with my wireless after I updated to Mavericks.  For me, the problem is manifest whenever I'm using my system in a conference room with a lot of other folks who are also using wireless.  The connection is up and down constantly, to the point where it's really not usable.  Other folks in the room (who are using Windows systems) don't have the same issues.  It's gotten to the point where _they_ are making fun of my me and my Mac (the tables have turned!).

     

    I never had these issues when I was using Mountain Lion.  Since it's the same environment and the same hardware (MacBook Pro, 15", Retina), I've started to suspect that Mavericks is the culprit.

    I am going through most kb articles and all that I can see is that the disconnect problem is the routers fault and not because of mavericks. Well guess again. On the very same router my mbp never had an issue with mountain lion. As my old mbp which still is on mountain lion. Oh yes on the same router neither my windows laptop has any issues. The whole thing with the "it's the routers fault" statement is getting ridiculous.

    I have the exact same thing. This mostly happens to me at work too. Going in meetings and searching to find a LAN socket every time... Absurd. Starting to regret my investment in my mbp mostly because of the terrible support and lame excuses from apples side.

     

    I am really disappointed.

    Absolutely. Seems that apple either dont monitor these threads, or dont care.

    I called apple support on this issue.

    They followed a couple of scripted steps, but did affect change the issue. They then said there was nothing they could do. i asked if there was any known issues regarding Mavericks and wireless and he said no, so I suggested that apple should read this site a bit more.

     

    I asked why they havent asked for ANY diagnostics information, which might help understand what is going on.

    The agent then said, oh so you wait to raise a ticket to Engineering, to which I replied, well isnt that what we are doing now?

    He then sent on a program to transport the diagnostic information, and I sent it to Apple.

    1 week later i asked for an update, and almost immediately he said that the Engineer team want to know what router and firmware I have.  (it was a bit strange that they only wanted to know it as soon as I asked for an update).

    I sent on the details, and now 1 week later, havent heard anything yet.

    I am now experiencing wi-fi connection problems all since I upgraded to maverick!

    Same here mate. Since I upgraded to mavericks my wifi got messed up.

    Yup, same here since Mavericks. Dropping out in any browser every ten mins or so. Only way to cure it is to turn wifi on and off each time.

     

    So so irritating. Clearly this is an issue in Mavericks and needs to be addressed. So many threads about it.

     

    Have tried all suggestions to cure but nothing works. It's a fundamental flaw in the OS code.

    I have a definitive guide from apple how to fix the problem. The following is the email received from apple support this afternoon i hope this helps :-) :

     

    First, apply the update from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1672 and restart the mac


    If after testing you still have trouble do the following:


    Go into


    Finder>go>computer>Mac HD>Library>Preferences>sistem configuration


    and remove to the trash the file named com.apple.AutoWake.plist


    restart the mac and test.


    If these steps didn’t help, please give us a callback so that we can solve the problem with you

    Your support patch will not run on my MacBook Air - says it is software is not supported on my system.  I am running Mavericks 10.9
