Prohibition Sign at Boot Up! HELP PLEASE!

So 2 days ago, my computer got pretty slow, so I was in the need to shut it down completely (I hold the power button until it shut down). When I tried to turn it back on a Prohibition Sign appeared, then it went to a black screen and told me Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart (it was not possible, it didn't work). When I restarted it by turning it off and turning it back on, the same logo appeared. The RECOVERY HD is not available, PLEASE HELP!

I have a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) Model 9,2 which came with Mountain Lion PRE-INSTALLED, and I was currently running OSX Mavericks (downloaded from the App Store). If someone says that I should do a fresh clean Install of my system, I will but please explain me how, and which should I do the install of, Mavericks or Mountain Lion?

Hope this image helps to solve the problem:

When I leave my computer turned off for more than 20 minutes, and turn it back on, it enters but its very slow. When I entered I tried repairing permissions, verifying the S.M.A.R.T status (which is Verified), and all that stuff, I did everything, and the icon still appears when I reboot.

Please I don't know what to do, and 2 weeks ago my Warranty ended. 😟 I am very scared.

SOMEONE HELP ME OUT PLEASE!

Eduardo, I have responded to your earlier post Wierd sign at BootUp

Have you tried to boot into Safe Mode?

You can also try to do a Mavericks install via Internet Recovery. Follow the instructions here:

OS X: About OS X Recovery

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718

You can also try to boot from a USB drive or SDHC card following the instructions here:

OS X: Installing OS X on an external volume

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5911

It may be a conflicting extension or your hard disk/RAM may be corrupt.

Eduardo, I wish you had stuck to the original thread, Wierd sign at BootUp @ https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5540601?answerId=23737409022#23737409022 which you had started. Now we have two threads on the same issue!!!

Anyways, you have my sympathy, but you must help yourself or take the machine to Apple.

Go to the thread below and follow the instructions in the 4th post by Linc Davis

You will have to go through the troubleshooting steps to isolate your problem. If you are not confident then you really need to get an expert to repair the system for you, whether it is hardware or software related.

Also take note of the 9th post in that thread by Parkeeet:

I was eventually able to get my computer "fixed." Here's what I did.

...

4c. From "Mac OS X Utilities," I clicked on "Restore From Time Machine Backup." This would have been a viable option for me, but I hadn't backed up my files in 11 months, so I would lose lots of data and work. This left one option.

4d. From "Mac OS X Utilities," I clicked on "Disk Utility," and clicked on "New Image" from the top toolbar; I used this to make a current copy of my hard drive, which I saved on an external hard drive. I then erased the hard drive, and this enabled me to reinstall Mac OS X and eventually restore all the data to my computer.

Good luck
