Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with window sizes after upgrading to OS X Mavericks. I found a few resources that I think will help isolate and troubleshoot this issue.

First, try booting your computer into Safe Mode and test it here:

If the issue is not present in Safe Mode, it can mean that a third-party application set to automatically launch may be causing conflicts with Firefox, iPhoto, and the other applications you are experiencing this with.

This happens to me too, I have two monitors using multiple desktops.

I thought Apple would have released a bug fix by now, but they haven't, so its become extremely annoying.

I am not going to do the Safe mode feature because this is a bug and should be fixed by Apple. My computer worked fine before upgrading to Mavericks.

Thank you for the additional information. If you have a Time Machine backup and would like to revert to a previous version of OS X, you can do so by using the steps in the following article:

Then you must live with it as is, nothing can be fixed when you refuse to try.

Why should I try to fix it? It's an Apple problem.

As its a bug then I think Apple fix it of course. Or someone post a proper solution. Do you really think I should fix this??? I am not an Apple employee.

I think this forum should be best suited for people with the issue and to provide a solution (the above answer about using Safe Mode or a new user account is not a solution because it should not happen in my current user account when safe mode is not used) so whether I have authority or not (I kindly asked, not demanded) I think you should stop posting pointless replies on the forum. I don't understand why you have a problem. Do you have the issue and/or do you have a solution? If neither then please do not reply with silly remarks telling me I should fix Mavericks bugs.

I am going to stop replying to you now, I have made my point and will just wait for this bug fix or a real solution.

I agree. Apple did not seem to fully test Mavericks before releasing it.

Hi dsinacola... I had the same problem with my Macbook Air (late 2010)... This issue was happening when I locked the screen with a third-party APP called "Lock Me Now". I uninstall this application and I am using the lock screen on security menu. Everything is working perfect now!

In fact I uninstalled the Mac Keeper as well, and I had a good performance improvement too.

This constantly happens to me also.

My setup:

• Mac Mini 2010
• Two monitors

I have a problem with Skype and Outlook 2011 windows. I keep them stretched to full monitor but when I unlock my screen these windows become small and attached to the menu bar. I can't resize or move them. So I have to relaunch these applications each time because this is the only way to fix this issue.

I don't use any 3rd-parties like the mentioned above. I use the default fast user switching menu.

This 'Stuck Window' issue has been reported in several places on the boards here since the upgrade to Mavericks, but there doesn't appear to be an official confirmation from Apple about whether it is a defect with Mavericks or a 3rd App causing it.

It would help us all if people could note which Apps were open when the issue appears. So far from my own experience I've noticed the following Apps are usually open, and it only happens when the Mac enters 'Sleep' mode:

* Chrome

* Evernote

* Calendar

* Finder

If you experience the problem the best work around (until we get a definitive fix) is to:

1. Open System Preferences > Dock

2. Change the dock locatin using 'Position on screen' to anything else

3. Change the 'Position on screen' setting back to your normal one

4. Exit System Preferences.

This will "unstick" your windows from the top left-hand corner and allow you gain control over your workspace again.
