Menu bar icons not showing up at retina resolution

I've been experiencing this for a while now. Some menu bar icons will now show up at retina resolution on my Macbook Pro Retina.

Here's a screenshot to show what I mean: http://d.pr/i/IUMM

Only Twitter and Notification center are in retina resolution. If I relaunch them, some apps will show the icon at retina resolution (see here: http://d.pr/i/uMDu )

Anyone have any idea what causes this or if it's been reported already?

I'm on a 2012 MBPr 15" running OSX 10.9

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I'm having the same issue. However, when I click the icons they return to the Retina version. It seems to happen after everytime I open the lid from sleep.

Have you solved this yet? Perhaps trashing the preference file for the menubar would solve this? Go to the preferences folder-- /Library/Preferences --and trash this file:

com.apple.systemuiserver.plist

The problem is actually deeper than that. I've noticed very pixelated notifications and even the top part of Finder windows at times. I think I'm narrowing it down to happening only when the battery power is very low but not yet sure.

I'll try your suggestion just to see though.

If you just purchased your Mac you have 14 days to return it for a full refund. I suggest you do that and get another that functions correctly.

This computer is a bit over a year old now. This does not seem like a hardware issue. As far as I know it's related to Mavericks because it seems to have started around the time I upgraded to it.

Im having the same problem on my rMBP "13 late 2013. Not sure how often it happens I just noticed it for the first time. Everything went back to normal after a reboot.

Go to system preferences -> displays -> click resolution ->change the scaled resolution -> put back the original scaled resolution.
