Nov 10, 2013 11:24 PM in response to sbermanby Howard Oh,Thanks! What about connecting through USB? My macbook pro retina doesn't seem to recognize the ipad air connected. Also, what about using bluetooth? I tried to pair the ipad air from/to the macbook pro retina and the macbook pro retina can't see the device.

Nov 10, 2013 11:22 PM in response to Howard Ohby sberman,★HelpfulWhat about this approach:
Simply load the PDF file into iBooks on your MacBook Pro. (If you're using Mavericks, iBooks is a standalone app on your Mac, otherwise, it's in iTunes.)
Then sync your iPad to the computer, and find the PDF in iBooks on the iPad!

Nov 10, 2013 11:27 PM in response to sbermanby Howard Oh,Thanks again! I can do that for now but I just want to get my ipad air fixed if there IS something wrong with it. It is just weird that I can't connect my ipad air to anything. I know my macbook pro retina works fine with other devices so trying to figure out if ipad air is just not suppose to be able to connect to other devices.

It's especially important to be running the current iTunes. If you're in doubt, get it here:

USB, yes. Bluetooth, no, as that is not allowed by the way the Bluetooth on the devices is set up.
But I take it you cannot connect even by USB, which is not normal.

Nov 10, 2013 11:43 PM in response to sbermanby Howard Oh,I know that it connects because when I plug it in, it can sync iTunes but I still can't see the ipad air in Finder. FYI, my macbook pro retina is still new. Only had it for a couple of months and I bought the ipad air a couple of days ago.

Nov 10, 2013 11:49 PM in response to Howard Ohby sberman,Oh, you see your iPad Air in iTunes! Excellent! So yours behaves the same as mine - it's visible in iTunes (but not in Finder, but that doesn't matter, as ITunes can direct everything you need).
When your iPad Air is visible in iTunes, you can go to its "Books" tab in iTunes and do what you need to do there regarding sync rules.

Nov 10, 2013 11:57 PM in response to sbermanby Howard Oh,So if I want to move my text books which are in PDF form, how do I get them from my macbook pro retina to my ipad air?

Nov 11, 2013 12:02 AM in response to Howard Ohby sberman,- Open iBooks on your Mac.
- Drag the book(s) (PDF files) into iBooks.
- Attach your iPad to the Mac using USB.
- Click on the iPad's "Books" tab in the iTunes display. To get there, first click on the iPad button in iTunes.
- Make sure the sync rules are as you would like (probably indicating sync all books).
- Perform the sync.
That's it! The PDFs will appear in your iPad's iBooks. (You will probably have to click Books > PDFs in iBooks on your iPad).
