Automatic downloads ??

I have just completed my iTunes match setup..

I have a question.

On my ipad under settings -> itunes & app store I have iTunes match enabled (of course) but under this there is 'automatic downloads' for music/apps/books/updates.

Now the apps/books/updates automatic downloads are self explanitory but I dont understand what the music 'automatic download' is there for.

I understand that iTunes match will ALREADY automatic download whatever music I download to and from other devices. So if I download or upload a music track on my imac then it should automaticlaly appear on my iPad and iPhone right? Isnt this the whole point of iTunes Match?

So why is rere an option to select automatic downloads for music, since I'm using iTunes Match? Shouldn't that be greyed out?

Hi,

Automatic downloads relate to music purchased from iTunes Store that you can opt to activate so that purchases made on iOS device are automatically download on your computer, for example.

There is not automatic download function for match on iOS devices other than when you play a track, it downloads into a temporary cache. If you wish music to be on your ipod device, you can manually download.

So if I have iTunes match on 3 devices and I purchase a song on Device #1 will iTunes Match then make the song available on all my oher devices by default?

Or do I have to have 'automatic downloads' switched on for that to happen?
