Q: Reminders fails to sync

From Reminders I selected the Accounts menu item, clicked iCloud, verifed I was logged in, then unchecked Reminders. It warned me that by doing this all the Reminders data would be deleted from this computer. I agreed, and it went ahead; indeed the data disappeared.
Under the Apple menu, I selected "Log me out"; then logged in again.
I opened Reminders, then Accounts, selected iCloud, and clicked on the Reminders checkbox; the checkmark appeared. The timer wheel spun for a while, then the checkmark disappeared, the wheel spun for another second, then stopped. No data in Reminders.
I closed Reminders, then opened Accounts directly from the Apple menu, selected iCloud, and clicked on the Reminders checkbox; the checkmark appeared. The timer wheel spun for a while, then the checkmark disappeared, the wheel spun for another second, then stopped. Opened Reminders; no data.
Meanwhile the other two machines are still operating and cooperating with each other.

You may get an alert that one or more calendars will be deleted from your computer. Confirm. The calendars won't be deleted from iCloud. Leave the preference pane open.Quit Reminders if it's running, and also quit Calendar or iCal.Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and selectServices ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a file named "Calendar Cache" selected.Move the selected file to the Trash. There may be one or two other files in the same folder with names that begin in "Calendar Cache". If so, delete those files too.If you unchecked the box in the iCloud preference pane, check it again and close the preference pane.Launch Reminders and test.*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, selectGo ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

Dec 11, 2013 7:30 AMby DavesBlend,Linc Davis's procedure addressed my problems with Mavericks and Reminders. My problem manifested with a "403" error upon alert events and inability to sync or access icloud reminders (other than local cached). I previously tried disabling and renabling icloud reminders, but the error message would return relatively quickly. This time I followed Linc's guidance on clearing out the cache, as well as disabling and re-enabling icloud reminders on my Mavericks machine. So far so good.

small quibble - the instructions above were slightly confusing to me
it boiled down to
- quit Reminders
- go to iCloud preferences, check sync off for Reminders & Calendars
- in Finder, navigate to this folder (shift-command-G): ~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
- delete that cache file
- go to iCloud preferences, check sync on for Reminders & Calendars
... and it worked
(if this isn't what you meant, feel free to correct)

Note: You should only do this if you have ALL your data in the cloud. Do NOT do this if you do NOT have all your diary data in the cloud. By cloud, I mean servers like iCloud, Office365 or corporate exchange servers. By diary data, I mean email, contacts, calendar, reminders and notes.
In a terminal window
cd ~/Library/Containers
rm -rf com.apple.CalendarAgent
rm -rf com.apple.iCal
rm -rf com.apple.reminders
cd ~/Library
rm -rf Calendars

For example I have a contact on my iPhone 6+ running iOS 9. I've had this contact for years.
On my iMac his name keeps disappearing, contacts its checked on under icloud, I turn it off, reboot computer come back turn it back and a few minutes later his name and maybe a few dozen other peoples names show back up But when I go to turn it back on, ill notice calendars and reminders is unchecked, ill check them and it says setting up and then it unchecks themselves... or my icloud wont even load at all, prefrence panel will crash along with icloud, Ive tried deleting everything everyone has suggested next option will be to take screen shots of my applications, backup my user folder files that are important (not library) download 10.10, make it into a usb boot drive and whip my hard drive and start fresh then in like 10 days upgrade to the new OS... or just deal with this being annoying for 10 more days (this has been going on for months) and just do it with 10.11 or OS X El Capitan whatever is numbered as.I've had Loading iCloud.... at the top of system pref during this entire time of typing this and if i goto force quit it'll say they are not responding

Apr 9, 2016 7:38 AMby Oldo,Hi I tried all that steps you wrote here and nothing is working for me. Now I checked that on other Exchange server:
1. I create reminder in OSX reminders - > task is created in Exchange
2. I modify reminder in OSX -> task is modified in Exchange
3. I modify task in Exchange -> Rerminder in OSX is not changed
4. I create task in Exhnage -> Reminder is not created in OSX
and what is strange
5. I delete reminder that was created in OSX and renamed in Exchange (point 3) in OSX. Renamed task in Exchage is deleted too.
I tried that on two exchange servers, The same result. Something in my OSX is blocking incoming comunication from Exchange.
Any ideas? I have El Capitain lates update.
