Unable to install iWork upgrade.

I recently upgraded my iPad and installed the latest versions of Keynote, Pages and Numbers. When I try to open the files on my MacBook I am told that I need a newer version of Keynote, Pages or Numbers (depending on the document of course). When I go to the app store I am told that I have the latest version already installed (in the case of Keynote 6.0) and therefore am unable to click download (because the button says installed). However in the about Keynote menu Item it still states my version as being 5.3 (or, in the case of Pages and Numbers, 4.3 and 2.3 respectively). I am wodering if something has gone wrong somewhere or is the new iwork incompatible with my MacBook (Mid 2010)?
