Problem with my Macbook, do I need to update to 10.6?

Hello, I am new in here, and I am typing as America Sign Lanuage. I hope you can understand what I am tying to say.

I am stuck with Macbook Leopard, 10.5.8, I have this macbook for 4 years. (May 2009) I am starting have Freezing when I use firefox, safari, or set macbook to sleep/close it. I has to press power button to force turn off after the freeze. I check on Software Update, it says: "Your Software is up to date. Software Update doesn't have any new software for your computer at this time."

I am thinking to buy 10.6. It is perhap help this slove, no? However, will I lose everything if I am plan to update to OS X 10.6?

(Even if I want to update to OS X Mavericks?)

After update, will I lose my Adobe CS 4? I don't have Adobe Disc, it was gift.

I tried duplicate photoshop, turn it into zip then move it into my father macbook pro, that have 10.9. It say that CS4 license stop working.

My macbook is:

Version 10.5.8

Processor 1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Edit: Will I have problem with Steam afte update? 😝
