A google search for avbackendproxy yields many hits. Peruse them. FYI, nobody is a system-level group member. Finally, iOS version is useless info. Provide machine and OS version, instead.
I resolved the problem. The avlogwriter and avbackendproxy were associated with the Avira Virus software. Avira was locking up my Mac when I installed Marverick. Deinstalled Avira, and problem was resolved.
I should say Avira Anti-Virus detection software.
Antivirus software in general for OS X is at least a waste of system resources, it frequently tends to create more problems than they solve. There really is not need for it, there are no viruses for OS X and very little other malware. Any malware that is out there can easily be avoided by simply using Software Update frequently to keep your system up-to-date. Educate yourself on the subject and you will find most OS X users tend to agree with this point of view.
