Same as above but how can i trim down the number of Top Site, when i view top sites I only want 3 Sites (no More)

I already know how to pin and delete but that only replaces the current site with the next, I have tried deleting the site and pinning the site blank before it starts with no luck, safari insists on adding another site, this is so unproductive, as i have no control.. My only other way to solve this is have multiple pages pinned the same as each other, this seems the only (sad) way to do this, please correct me if im wrong, thanks all.

PS Running Mavericks - Also i have checked every menu in safari with no luck, would consider a terminal command as a last resort ( apple realy loves taking control from users 😕 )

If one is operating Safari 6 there seems to be an issue with the absence of the EDIT button to change TOP SITES. I have had this same problem today and in fact the only way I have found to edit the NUMBER of sites in 'top sites' is as Eric Root has said. In >Safari >Preferences >General >Top Sites Shows... there is an option to choose between 6, 12 or 24 cubes. Unfortunately no less than six. Thanks Eric for helping but its frustrating (APPLE) that one cant 1. decrease the number to less than 6 and 2. Makes changes to Top Sites with the ease that we use to, ie. with the Edit button on the Top Sites page...
