Missing itunes artist names on iphone

I have music in my PC itunes library that is attributed correctly to its artist on my PC, but syncs to my iphone as "unknown artist". This only seems to be a problem on the iphone I bought a few months ago, the same music synced correctly to my old ipod. Is there a way I can fix this?
