Unsupported hardware only mentioned after release?

I'm very upset that these unsupported displays were not mentioned before I upgraded to Mavericks... Now, since I upgraded, my perfectly working, beautiful acrylic Cinema Display (which was totally fine under 10.8) is no longer usable with my system --try using a display in the daytime without being able to turn up the brightness from it's lowest level, it's unusable.

This isn't a CPU or some other internal component that has been slowly getting obsolete after many years of Moore's law at work...this is a display.

Mostly I'm upset that these incompatibilities were not stated outright from the start and now only slyly addressed weeks and weeks later in a support forum.

Any one else having questions as to Apple's response to this issue?

And, has anyone the tech know-how to resolve this issue sans-Apple?

Thanks

Instead of attempting to do it without Apple's help, I suggest bringing it up to AppleCare. Point them to the article. Get a free online http://developer.apple.com/account and submit a bug report at http://bugreporter.apple.com/

In the past when Apple has considered hardware obsolete, it was not sold for at least seven years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Cinema_Display Gives you the display history. Now I'm not sure which one yours is, but based on: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1752 it sounds like they have already considered it obsolete on a certain number of years. Recover your backup and continue to use 10.8 until you can change to a different display.

Same beef here.

I suppose I could get an account to tell Apple about an obvious and intentional change in support of their own hardware, but is it really that significant a feature to continue to support? It really has little to do with an OS update. Referring to the fact that all of the advanced calibration functionality remains supported, yet this one small feature does not.

For a $2,100 monitor in it's day (my cinema display 23") it's clear the message here is to go buy new Apple products.
